SUMMARY:Canadian Conservation Corps Youth Program Information Session
DESCRIPTION:Please join Mr. Dan Frawley from the Nipissing First Nation to learn more about the Canadian\nConservation Corps Youth Program offered by the Canadian Wildlife Federation. \n\nThe CCC seeks to first connect youth of all backgrounds aged 18 – 30 to the natural spaces in Canada\nthrough a two–week expedition in the outdoors and then to build upon that passion by placing them\nwith the conservation groups doing essential work to protect\, rehabilitate\, and educate about important\nconservation issues across the country. Finally\, our participants bring their experience back home to\ndeliver a service project in their own communities\, making a direct impact and educating others about\nlocal causes and issues. \n\nWe’re also a barrier–free program accepting participants from a wide variety of backgrounds where pairs\nof our participants complete a 3–month placement at a conservation organization\, working full–time to\nlearn from and help with their goals. The CCC ensures that these passionate participants have all\nnecessary gear\, accommodations\, and anything else they need to be successful at their placements and\nour goal is that each pair of participants provide a valuable contribution to their placement organization\nduring their time there while themselves gaining new perspectives\, working to address environmental\nissues\, and the experience to begin or build a career in conservation. \n\nThe next group begins this May in Newfoundland. This group will be sea–kayaking in or near the Bay of\nExploits\, dates as follows:\n \nStage 1: May 10th – June 2nd\nStage 2: June 12th – Sept. 3rd\nInnovation Lab: Sept. 3rd – Sept. 6th\n \nThe final group in Atlantic Canada this year is in late August in Nova Scotia. This group will be sea–\nkayaking amongst the LaHave Islands\, dates as follows:\n \nStage 1: Aug. 19th – Sept. 11th\nStage 2: Sept. 18th – Dec. 10th\nInnovation Lab: Dec. 10th – 13th\n \nInformation session will be held at 1 Church Street in Corner Brook on Aprill 28th\, 2022 from 1:00 pm–\n3:00 pm.
