Need to Talk? Feeling Blue?Mental health among Canadians has worsened with one 2020 survey reporting that 38% of participants indicated a deterioration in mental health since the pandemic began with emotional challenges such as feeling worried and anxious (46%), sad (26%), stressed (37%), and lonely (30%) which have impacted their mental health (Guerrero and Barnes, 2022). This means over 1 in 3 Canadians have experienced worsened mental health in recent years. However, there are community resources available if you need to talk:• Call or visit your local DoorWays centre for quick access to mental health and addiction counselling either in-person or over the phone. Visit the Bridge the Gapp website to find the DoorWays centre closest to you. • Call the Provincial Lifewise Warmline at 1-855-753-2560 (9:00am to 12:00am daily) to speak to a trained mental health peer support worker. • Call 811 to speak with a HealthLine nurse 24/7 if you are experiencing a mental health or addiction crisis. You can always call 911 or visit your local emergency department for mental health emergencies. • Visit www.bridgethegapp.ca for mental wellness resources. • If you are a Qalipu First Nation member, you are eligible for mental health counselling at no charge by calling one of our approved providers and making an appointment. For additional support in connecting with Qalipu First Nation mental health services, contact the Qalipu Mental Wellness Navigator at sbryan@qalipu.ca or 709-679-2238. ... See MoreSee Less
