Community Engagement Sessions – Newfoundland Aboriginal Women’s Network
January 21, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Event Navigation
The Newfoundland Aboriginal Women’s Network (NAWN) is currently involved in a four-year project titled “Building for a Stronger Future.” One aspect of this project is Organizational Financial Health. Through this stage, NAWN is working towards developing a Social Enterprise Model. For the Indigenous women of our province, the Social Enterprise will provide employment and/or training opportunities; for our community, it will provide an opportunity to have community needs met; and for NAWN, it will provide an opportunity to be less dependent upon government funding.
NAWN is currently in the needs assessment phase. This will consist of an online and paper survey, as well as 6 community engagement sessions which will help NAWN identify top priorities in the Bay St. George area. Community Engagement Sessions will consist of a non-formal gathering where there will be a general discussion on the topic of Social Enterprise and what it might look like. NAWN will also be asking for ideas around what type of business/service is needed in the Bay St. George area.
There will be a Community Engagement Session held in St. George’s on Tuesday, January 21st at People of the Dawn Indigenous Friendship Centre from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
NAWN would like to hear from community members and hope you can make it to their session. If you have any questions, you can email leeann.nawn@gmail.com or call 643-4563.
