The Bay of Islands (Elmastukwek) will be the site of a traditional Mi’kmaw gathering (Mawio’mi) on June 11-12, 2016.  This event will be open to all people: native and non-native, status and non status, young and elderly.  The Mawio’mi will provide an opportunity for all people to share through stories, songs, crafts, art and other ways.  With Elders and grassroots people there will also be sweat lodge ceremonies, a water ceremony, traditional teachings, feasts, drumming, dance and much more.
