Qalipu First Nation is pleased to welcome Penny Sheppard as the new Ward Councillor representing the Benoit’s Cove Ward.

Councillor Sheppard was officially sworn in during a ceremony held on Thursday, July 20, 2026, beginning her term on the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation Band Council.

Chief Jenny Brake shared her confidence in Councillor Sheppard’s abilities, recognizing her commitment to the community through her volunteer work and involvement on various committees.

We are confident in her abilities and look forward to working with her as she represents the interests of members within the Benoit’s Cove Ward and contributes to the important work of Council.” – Chief Jenny Brake

As Ward Councillor, Sheppard will represent the interests of members within the Benoit’s Cove Ward and contribute to Council’s efforts to advance the priorities and goals of Qalipu First Nation.
